The ICDS Directorate of Bihar celebrated the successful conclusion of Poshan Pakhwada-2026 today at Gyan Bhawan, Patna. The state-level workshop served as a platform to announce that Bihar has secured the first position in the country for its nutritional initiatives, maintaining the momentum from its previous top ranking during Poshan Maah-2025.
Honorable Deputy Chief Minister (Social Welfare), Bihar, attended as the Chief Guest, joined by the Secretary of the Social Welfare Department and senior ICDS officials. The event highlighted a massive community effort, with over 7.1 million (71 lakh) activities conducted across districts, blocks, and villages to turn nutrition into a “Jan Andolan” (people’s movement).
A significant highlight of the day was the release of updated health data. According to the March 2026 Poshan Tracker, Bihar has seen a dramatic improvement in child health indicators:
Stunting: Reduced from 42.9% (NFHS-5) to 40.60%.
Underweight: Drastically dropped from 41% (NFHS-5) to 19.2%.
Wasting: Improved from 22.9% (NFHS-5) to 7.7%.
