New Delhi, July 17, 2025 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rolled out an upgraded teacher training program focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to promote critical thinking and innovative learning in classrooms across India. This initiative, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aims to equip educators with advanced pedagogical tools to enhance student engagement and problem-solving skills.
Revamped Training Program
The enhanced STEM training program emphasizes inquiry-based learning, hands-on experiments, and real-world applications to make subjects like mathematics and science more interactive. CBSE has partnered with leading educational institutions and industry experts to design workshops that integrate modern teaching methodologies, including project-based learning and the use of digital tools.
Teachers will undergo intensive training modules focusing on fostering analytical thinking, creativity, and collaboration among students. The program also incorporates training on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and coding into STEM curricula, preparing students for future-ready skills.
Impact on Classrooms
The initiative seeks to move away from rote memorization, encouraging students to question, analyze, and apply concepts critically. “Our goal is to empower teachers to create dynamic classrooms where students develop a deeper understanding of STEM subjects through exploration and innovation,” said a CBSE spokesperson.
The training will be conducted in phases, targeting over 50,000 teachers in CBSE-affiliated schools over the next two years. Online and in-person sessions will ensure accessibility for educators across urban and rural areas.

By equipping teachers with tools to nurture critical thinking, CBSE aims to prepare students for global challenges in science and technology.
