If any student wants to make career in the field of Medicine then they have to write a Medical entrance exam. To find out capabilities of the candidates they have to write a Medical entrance which is conducted at the national level. This exam measures whether the candidate is eligible for admission in the different specialized medicine courses or not. To get admission into medical colleges entrance exam on a national level as well as on a state level basis are conducted. Medical courses are available at different degree levels at diploma, degree, post-diploma, postgraduate degree as well as research level. Application Forms

You can get the information regarding application forms and last date of submission in leading newspapers of the country and also on the official websites of the conducting boards. For example, announcements for All India Pre-medical Examination usually come in the month of January and the exams are conducted in the months of March or April. In the same way, state level medical entrance examinations are declared in the month of January and are conducted in between March and April. About National level medical institutes are announced in month of January- March and conducted in between May and June.

Eligibility

Any candidate who is willing to write medical entrance exam, he should clear  10+2 or any equivalent examination with a combination of Physics, Chemistry and Biology is eligible to appear for the tests.

Courses Offered

Pattern of Examination

There are generally two stages for conducting the medical entrance examinations and these are:

Stage-1: Preliminary Examination, which contain objective paper of 3 hours duration. This exam contain around 200 multiple choice type questions from core Science subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.

Stage-2: Final Examination, this is also an objective paper of 3 hours duration. This exam contain around 200 multiple choice questions from science subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology and it also comprises Logic & Reasoning, Intelligence and English Language comprehension. All the questions are of equal marks.

Syllabus

There is no particular syllabus as far as the medical entrance test is concerned. However, the questions are generally based on the level of 11th and 12th standards qualified under various boards all over India. The medical entrance examination comprises sections with a wide-ranging coverage of the following sections:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Intelligence
  • Logic & Reasoning
  • English Language Comprehension

Physics

Measurement, Motion, Optics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Physics of the Atom, Thermodynamics, Electricity, Electro-Magnetic Induction, Solids, Nuclear Physics, Electronic Devices.

Chemistry

General & Inorganic Chemistry – Structure of Atom, Molecule and Chemical Bond, Periodic Properties of Elements, Chemistry of Elements and Compounds. Organic Chemistry – Introduction, Nomenclature of organic-compounds, etc. Physical Chemistry – State of Matter, Energetics, Chemical Equilibrium.

Zoology

Histology, Anatomy and Physiology, Reproductive System, Developmental Biology, Diversity of Animal Life, Genetics and Evolution

Botany

Anatomy and Physiology of Plants, Systematics, Systems, Man and Environment, Cell Biology-Elementary, Genetics, Development Biology, Botany and Human Welfare.

Selection Process

Selection of the candidates depends on the scores obtained in the written examination. After clearance the Entrance tests, the candidate called for counseling, after that the candidate is given admission in a medical school. When he or she go for admissions, the candidates are request to bring necessary documents like mark sheets, school leaving certificates, age-proof, etc.

NTA Issues Admit Cards for NCET 2026; Exam Set for April 17-18

The official NTA portal interface for NCET 2026, where thousands of aspirants are currently securing their hall tickets.

​The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the admit cards for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2026. This examination serves as the gateway for students seeking admission into the 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in premier central and state universities.

​The test is scheduled to be conducted on April 17 and 18, 2026, in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. Candidates are advised to download their hall tickets from the official NTA website (exams.nta.ac.in) using their application number and password. It is important to note that NTA will not send physical admit cards via post; students must carry a clear printed copy and a valid government ID to their designated exam centers

  • Getting admissions to Art Direction and Production Design courses, the candidates need to have minimum eligibility criterion is a Bachelor`s degree in Applied Art/ Sculpture/Architecture/ Painting/Interior Design or any equivalent diploma in related fields of Fine Arts.
  • Getting admissions to various TV engineering courses, the candidates need to have minimum of 10+2 pass certificate under a recognized Board.

Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET)

If any student or candidates, who are willing to do full time Post-Graduate Degree Programs in Management offered by the IITs & IISc then they have to write a entrance test of “Joint Management Entrance Test” (JMET). This is full time Post-Graduate Degree Programs in Management for 2 years.

Below are the list of present instates which are offering full time Post-Graduate Degree Programs in Management

  • IISc Bangalore,
  • IIT Bombay (SJMSoM),
  • IIT Delhi (DMS (Department of Management Studies),
  • IIT Kanpur,
  • IIT Kharagpur (VGSoM),
  • IIT Madras and
  • IIT Roorkee 

Joint Management Entrance Test is organized by the IITs and IISc and the exam results of JMET are declared by the IITs and IISc.  Based on the short listed result the qualified candidates are called for following part of the selection process. It is not compulsory that all qualified candidates will be called for Group Discussion / Interview. JMET applicants are necessary to send separate application form to IISc and IITs to apply for many Management programmes.

Eligibility for JMET

Aspirants who have been gleaned a Bachelors degree (Engineering/Technology) equivalent or a Masters degree in a discipline can appear for the JMET examination.  The candidates who are pursuing the final year examination of the above mentioned qualifying degrees can also apply.

IISc Bangalore :  Department of Management Studies 

Programme :        Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility:

B.E./B.Tech in any branch of Engineering or equivalent with at least a Second Class and a valid JMET Score. Candidates those are attending the final examination are also eligible to apply.

IIT Bombay: Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management 

Programme: Master of Management (M. Mgt.) 

Eligibility:

  • Candidate should score minimum First class (60%) Bachelors degree in engineering (or equivalent) or first class in Masters Degree in Science are qualified for admission to the management Programme.
  • CGPI of 6.5 out of 10 at the qualifying examination. Candidates those are attending the final examination are also eligible to apply.

IIT Delhi:       Department of Management Studies

Programmes: Master of Business Administration (MBA) on Management Systems and    Telecommunication Systems Management 

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/B.Sc. Agriculture Engineering (Minimum 4 years after 10+2) 
  • Master’s degree in any branch of Physical/Chemical/Mathematical Sciences like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Application, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational / Information Science, Agriculture or Master’s Degree in Commerce/ Economics. 
  • Candidates those are attending the final examination are also eligible to apply.
  • Minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or 6.75 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent in the above mentioned degree programmes are essential for admission.
  •  Relaxation of 5% in marks or equivalent in CGPA for SC/ST candidates and as per Institute norms for PD category.

IIT Kanpur: Department of Industrial & Management Engineering 

Programme: Master of Business Administration (MBA) 

Eligibility:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering or technology (AICTE approved) from a University/Institute.
  • Minimum 60% of marks or grade point average of 6.0 on a scale of 10.0 in on average over whole programme.
  • Candidates with Architecture degree can apply provided they have taken Mathematics at 10+2 level. 
  • Candidates from outside India (foreign nationals and non-resident Indians) will be selected on the basis of academic background and work experience.

IIT Kharagpur: Vinod Gupta School of Management 

Programme: Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility:

  • Minimum of 60% (first class) in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology ) is eligible for admission
  • First class Master’s degree in Science (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) ) is eligible for admission
  • First class Master’s degree in Economics or Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) is eligible for admission.
  • Selection is based exactingly on performance in JMET, followed by group discussion and personal interview with the Selection Board.
  • Work experience in industrial organizations will be given due weight age.
  • Relaxation for SC/ST candidates and as per Institute norms.

IIT Madras: Department of Management Studies 

Programme: Master of Business Administration (MBA) 

Eligibility:

  • Minimum of 60% (first class) in B.E./B.Tech. Or equivalent is eligible for admission.
  • Minimum of 60% (first class) in Master’s degree in any discipline or equivalent from a recognized Institution or University are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates those are attending the final examination are also eligible to apply.

IIT Rookie: Department of Management Studies

Programme: Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility:

  • Minimum of 60% (first class) in Bachelor’s degree in any discipline of Engineering / Technology or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of 60% (first class) in Master’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Institute/University
  • (55% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or CGPA of 6.75/10 (6.25/10 for SC/ST) are eligible to apply.

The JMET entrance exam is conducted by each one of the IIT’s in a rotation policy. This JMET entrance exam will judge the candidate’s knowledge in mathematics, data interpretation, logical reasoning and English usage. This test is conducted yearly once in the month of December.

Question Paper Pattern

This exam comprises of questions in multiple choice format. From 2007 onwards the minus marks sectional as been introduced. If Candidates clear all the 4 sectional then receive an All India Rank (AIR). The GD/PI calls are given out on basis of a candidates AIR and overall profile which includes past academics, extra-curricular and work experience.

Candidates are requested to mark the correct choice by darkening the appropriate circle against each question on an Objective Response Sheet (ORS). There is a system of Negative marking for wrong answers. The examination duration is 3 hour will consist of a total of 120 questions (objective / multiple choices and each correct answer carried one mark each and each wrong answer attracted a penalty of 0.25 marks.

Types of Sections

Verbal Communication

The objective of this section is to test the comprehension and interpretative abilities in English as a language of business. 

Logical Reasoning

This section has questions of analytical reasoning, argument analysis, and analysis of explanation questions.

Quantitative Ability

Basic Mathematics (Numbers; Operations)

Data Interpretation

To understand data in different representative forms such as simple tables, histograms, pie charts, graphs, scatter diagrams, etc. Here, only simple data manipulations would be required and not involved calculations.

Application / Registration Process of JMET

Those Candidates who are interested to register for JMET have two options:

  • By post
  • Online registration

Application Fee

  • For General category fee is Rs. 800/- and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST category.

For online general category fee is Rs. 750/- and Rs. 350 for SC/ST category.
