Ski and Snowboard India successfully conducts elections for the term 2026-2030

New Delhi — May 31, 2026

Ski and Snowboard India (SSI), the national governing body for winter sports, successfully concluded its executive committee elections today at The Meriton in Nehru Place, New Delhi. The newly elected leadership team will steer the organization for the 2026–2030 term.

The electoral process was overseen by retired High Court Judge, Hon’ble Justice Rekha Palli, who served as the Court-Appointed Returning Officer to ensure a fair, transparent, and democratic vote.

Leadership Transition

Tanveer Singh Bajwa was elected as the new President of the association, taking the helm alongside Secretary General Mohammad Arshad and Treasurer Renuka.

Crucially for the sports community, the new committee also integrates celebrated Indian winter athletes directly into its governance. Himanshu Thakur and Vikas Rana—both prominent names in Indian winter sports—have been elected to the executive body as “Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit.”

Looking Ahead to Winter Sports Growth

Following the announcement, the incoming committee released a statement emphasizing a renewed focus on grassroots development, athlete welfare, and modernized governance. The leadership team expressed a strong commitment to expanding the footprint of skiing and snowboarding across India, aiming to boost participation numbers and collaborate closely with both national and international winter sports bodies.

The committee concluded the event by expressing its gratitude to Justice Rekha Palli (Retd.) for her institutional oversight during the voting process.

For students and young athletes looking at alternative and winter sports tracks, the structural reset at SSI could signal a wave of new competitive opportunities and improved training infrastructure over the next four years.
