2025 Admissions Halted as NCTE Derecognizes 2,962 Teacher Education Colleges
Published
11 months agoon

In a major move affecting teacher education institutions across the country, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has cancelled the recognition of 2,962 B.Ed and D.El.Ed colleges in India. These institutions will no longer be permitted to admit new students for the academic session 2025–26.
No New Admissions Allowed
Students are strictly advised not to take admission in these colleges from the upcoming academic year. However, those who are already enrolled will be allowed to complete their degrees without any interruption.
Why Was Recognition Cancelled?
According to NCTE, these institutions were repeatedly issued notices for non-compliance with official guidelines, but they failed to act.
Reasons for cancellation include:
- Failure to submit the Performance Report (PR) online as required
- Not depositing mandatory fees
- Continuing to admit students despite prior warnings
- Violation of NCTE regulations issued on September 12, 2019
Due to persistent non-compliance, NCTE has officially revoked their recognition.
The colleges whose recognition has been cancelled are spread across almost every state, including:
- Uttar Pradesh
- Delhi
- Haryana
- Punjab
- Rajasthan
- Madhya Pradesh
- Chhattisgarh
- Gujarat
- Maharashtra
- Goa
- Himachal Pradesh
- Chandigarh
…and many others.
