Understanding UAMP: Higher Education Event Tracking 

The University Activity Monitoring Portal (UAMP) is an online platform established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. It is a centralized digital platform which facilitates universities to upload details of various events /activities undertaken by them. It is a digital platform where Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) track, log, share details of their events, initiatives, action plans, and student programs.

Core Purpose and Objectives

The primary objective of the portal is to serve as a single-point national repository to monitor events undertaken by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in real-time. It helps the Ministry of Education and the UGC ensure that institutions are actively participating in national initiatives and student development programs.

Regulatory Oversight and Evaluation

Using this portal, UGC track how well universities are implementing national mandates, extracurricular activities, and educational quality initiatives. It also allows the commission to evaluate how individual universities are fostering skill development, innovation, and faculty training. It serves as a single, comprehensive window for the UGC to view activities conducted by universities across the country.

E-Governance and Institutional Transparency

The portal was created as part of the Indian government’s e-governance initiative to make the university system more transparent and data-driven. The portal acts as a transparent log to maintain the standards and extracurricular engagement of colleges nationwide.

Compliance, Reporting, and Operational Management

Universities use it to submit official reports, track key performance indicators, and maintain compliance with regulatory bodies. The portal acts as the designated platform where universities or institutions are routinely required to upload action plans, photographs, videos, and other details regarding various national and educational initiatives. Each participating university appoints a dedicated internal Nodal Officer tasked with managing data entries and updates.

Key Events tracked by UAMP:

• Student Induction Programs: “Deeksharambh” is the official Student Induction Programme (SIP) initiated by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India, designed to help new students smoothly transition from school to higher education. The program focuses on introducing freshers to the institution’s culture, ethos, and policies, while fostering mentorship and fostering a sense of belonging. Its purpose is to make new students comfortable, reduce anxiety, and promote self-exploration through orientation before regular classes begin.
• National Initiatives & Campaigns: UAMP tracks various national initiatives and campaigns such as events linked to the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative and the Viksit Bharat@2047: Voice of Youth campaign.
• Cultural & Social Awareness Days: State and national observances such as Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), Vigilance Awareness Week, and the International Day of Yoga, are also tracked by UAMP.
• Institutional Compliance & Inclusivity: It regularly reviews how institutions accommodate specific target initiatives like infrastructure for differently-abled students under HEPSN guidelines. It also tracks the metrics and actions regarding Persons with Disabilities (PwD) on campuses, as well as strict records of cases and actions taken regarding Sexual Harassment in HEIs.
• Health & Community Welfare: Programs like Swachhata Hi Seva and awareness campaigns by student clubs (e.g., Red Ribbon Club) are also tracked.
